The Dual Enrollment and the Progression of Education Model Institute is outcome-focused; teams will leave the Focus on Freshmen 2012 conference with a concrete plan for implementation of a Dual Enrollment initiative. Each of the seven sessions will be interactive, allowing participating teams of college and high school leaders to develop their own plan for beginning a Dual Enrollment program within their college/high school system.
The workshop participants will receive a copy of the SBCC Dual Enrollment manual along with specific, structured worksheets to be completed sequentially in each session, leading to a comprehensive implementation plan by the conclusion of the 3-day conference.
Since creating one of the largest and most successful dual enrollment programs in the country, SBCC added a Dual Enrollment program and has watched as freshmen develop informed 10-year plans and gain self-confidence as college students, all while earning 3 units of college credit. With a more accurate perception of the world and exciting, individualized plans, these students have a newfound interest in academic performance and, consequently, look forward to promising futures.
Imagine—what could this change in perspective do for your students?
At the Dual Enrollment Institute, your team of high school and college administrators will learn strategies for creating an effective Dual Enrollment program from the innovators themselves. You’ll even walk away with a custom plan for implementing Dual Enrollment at your own school. No need to start from scratch—you’ll receive all the information you need about how Dual Enrollment works, policy details related to a dual enrollment program, creating buy-in for the program, and how to transform the school culture into one that gets students and faculty alike enthusiastic about school as the first step on the road to a fulfilling life.
