Successful Models from Results-Oriented Schools

The Best Practices Institute highlights model schools with successful programs built on the George Washington University’s Freshman Transition Initiative (FTI) Standards for a Freshman Transition Course. Sessions are presented by administrators, classroom instructors, and independent educational consultants who are working in or with these model programs. Sessions focus on one or more steps from the FTI’s 10-Step Plan, and presenters share their expertise about strategies, plans, obstacles, and tips that may inform planning and implementation at your site.
You will have opportunities to ask these educators questions and to use their input to develop an action plan for building a successful program.

This is a great opportunity for educators who have attended Focus on Freshmen in prior years and are hoping to take home more proven ideas.

Please Note:  If you’re attending one of the other institutes, there are still opportunities to hear from these model programs. Best Practices presenters are featured in breakout sessions at times that don't conflict with regular institute sessions. These Spotlight Sessions are held after dessert on Monday and Tuesday afternoon and as early-bird sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday. To maximize your conference attendance, catch as many of these breakout sessions as you can.
