This institute is presented by administrators, classroom instructors, and independent educational
consultants who have built successful programs based on the
Course Standards for Freshman Transition Classes.
During the event, these sessions are timed in a way that allows Best Practices strand participants
to attend the General Sessions for the Freshman Transition Leadership and Career Choices Lead
Teacher Institutes, giving Best Practices participants the opportunity for even more learning -- at
no additional charge. And, Best Practices sessions end early enough that participants won’t miss
the conference networking sessions, like the cocktail reception and awards luncheon, or the
optional Hollywood tour excursion (additional fee required).
- The successes and the failures these practitioners experienced
- The entire process - from the challenges that sparked their redesign to the options they
explored and funding they used, from their training and implementation process to how
they know they’re making progress
- Each presenter will share the unique and varied viewpoints, models, and strategies that
impacted their program’s success, with time in each session for participants to ask
questions and find answers

"I attended Sara Spanos and Lynn Anderson's session. They empowered me with their enthusiasm and do's and don'ts. Being an English teacher myself, I felt a connection to Sara. She was very helpful in allaying my fears about starting this program."
